Another Day, Another Dollar

I got my first paper cut today. I managed to survive two whole weeks at my office job without any casualties. Well, except when I got ink from changing to the toner on my white shirt, but I was able to wash it off well enough – I love sports fabric.
I was supposed to be working only 5 days, extended another 5 days, bringing us to today, but the interesting thing is that about 2 hours into a work day when Ann, the other receptionist, was sick was when the decision was made to hire a temp. So, here I am, and here I will stay because Ann is leaving tomorrow to go on holiday for an entire month, extending my employment here to a total of exactly 6 weeks. After taxes I get about $500 a week, so after 6 weeks I'll have $3,000, effectively paying rent and bills (approximately 250 a week) for the entire 3 months I will be up on Edinburgh Dr.
The work isn't so bad, certainly better than ski school – less time wasted, less stress, and I can maintain my 'no ski school food' diet. Today I've had another all day project to work on, which is far better than little tasks here and there. It makes the day more pleasant and provides the boredom-alleviating sense of purpose that I require on a constant basis just as much as oxygen.
